The Messy Person’s Guide to House Cleaning

Tips to help you enjoy a cleaner home—even if you hate cleaning!

Do you have trouble finding the time, energy, and commitment to keep your home neat and tidy, despite your best intentions? These tips will help you enjoy a cleaner home without dedicating your life to it.

Put Dirty Stuff Where It Belongs

The Messy Person’s Guide to House CleaningAsk yourself: which looks worse? A bunch of dirty cups, plates, or spoons scattered throughout your home, or one big pile in the kitchen sink? By containing your messes to specific areas (preferably places that are also staging areas for the necessary cleanup) you can not only make your home look less messy but also make cleaning easier when you do get up the nerve to tackle it. So put your dishes in the sink, your laundry in the hamper, and your trash in the trash can right away rather than leaving things lying around.

Clean More Often

To someone who hates cleaning, it might seem counterintuitive to suggest that the solution to your problems is MORE cleaning. But in reality, the more often you clean, the less work it really requires. For example, just imagine how much longer it would take to scrub out your bathtub if you have months of soap scum to clean off rather than just a week’s worth. Or how much faster and easier it is to wipe up a refrigerator spill right after it happens rather than letting it solidify into a sticky mess.

Make a Schedule

Breaking down your cleaning tasks into manageable chunks can also help a messy person maintain a cleaner household. Instead of trying to tackle all your cleaning in one day (when you would likely get overwhelmed and want to quit after a few hours), make an effort to fit in 20 to 30 minutes of cleaning every day, tackling things like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, etc. on a rotating basis.

Hire a Cleaning Service

Of course, the ultimate tip for a cleaner home is to simply hire a cleaning service! We can come once a week or at whatever frequency you prefer and handle all your tedious house cleaning tasks for you. This is our business, so we have the skills and the desire to do an excellent cleaning job every time. The result will be much better—and much less painful—than trying to do your own cleaning! We can even come while you’re at work so you can arrive home to a nice clean environment where you can relax without feeling stressed about your mess. All of our cleaners have been personally screened and trained by Kimberly so you can trust us 100 percent in your home.
